1. Notification Permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)
Why does your app need the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission?
The app requires the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission to send critical updates, real-time messages from mentors, and alerts related to the "Focus Mode" feature. Without this, users will miss essential educational notifications and task reminders.
Data Safety Info: No sensitive personal data is transmitted off the device simply by receiving notifications. If the notification contains data, it is related to the app's core functionality (e.g., a message from a mentor).
2. Usage Access Permission (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)
Why does your app need access to Usage Stats?
Our app includes a "Focus Mode" and a "Screen Time Leaderboard" to help students manage their study time and minimize distractions. The PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS permission is strictly used locally to monitor how long the user is active on the device during study sessions and to track focus duration.
Data Safety Info: The usage data collected is processed on the user's device to calculate focus time and leaderboard rankings. It is not shared with third-party tracking or advertising networks.
3. Overlay / Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)
Why does your app need the SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission?
The app uses this permission exclusively for its "Focus Mode" functionality. When Focus Mode is active, the app displays an overlay or "blocker screen" to prevent the student from using distracting apps. It is also used to show urgent pop-up alerts from mentors while the user is outside the app.
Data Safety Info: This permission does not collect or transmit any user data; it is purely a UI component to enforce study focus.
4. Ignore Battery Optimizations (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS)
Why does your app request to ignore battery optimizations?
The app needs to run background tasks, such as tracking continuous study sessions in "Focus Mode" and syncing data (e.g., chat messages and task updates) in real-time. If the OS aggressively kills these background services, the study tracker will fail to accurately record the user's focus time. Therefore, we request the user to exempt the app from battery optimizations.
Data Safety Info: Not applicable for data collection. This is strictly for service reliability.
5. Microphone Permission (RECORD_AUDIO)
Why does your app need the RECORD_AUDIO permission?
The app features a built-in messaging system where students and mentors can communicate. The RECORD_AUDIO permission allows users to record and send voice notes/messages to their mentors or study groups within the app.
Data Safety Info: Audio recordings are initiated solely by the user within the chat interface. The recorded audio files are temporarily stored and then uploaded to our servers exclusively to deliver the message to the intended recipient. The audio is not used for any other purpose.
6. Storage / Photos & Media Permission (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)
Why does your app need access to Storage or Media files?
Users need to attach files, photos, or documents (e.g., pictures of completed homework or study notes) to their study tasks or send them via the in-app chat feature. The storage permission is required so users can select and upload these images from their device's gallery.
Data Safety Info: The app only accesses files explicitly selected by the user. These files are uploaded to our secure servers to complete the user's intended action (submitting a task or sending a message) and are not shared with third parties.
